3 Free Swimming Holes for an End of Season Dog Dip
Here in Minnesota, we hold off uttering the word "winter" until the bitter (ly cold) end. While the weather is getting colder, there is STILL TIME for your pup to get a quick swim! Check out these 3 lesser-known spots, and enjoy a splash on a sunny day!
1. Anoka MN Boat Launch (Rum River)

This is my favorite spot for weekdays after work. You'll have to stand aside if people want to get their boats in the water, but it's almost always empty. Mica and River LOVE a quick round of fetch-the-floating-Frisbee here, and it is easy for them to enter and exit the water safely with the concrete boat ramp. Stop on down when the weather's warm! It's only a short walk from the parking lot to the water!

2. Mississippi River Park (Anoka MN)

A paved trail winds around near the Mississippi River, and you can also enjoy a playground and open fields. The water access is near the parking lot, and though the current is swift, you can still play a round of fetch with your pup out in the water!
The entrance is just past Cutters Grove Apartments, near the intersection of Cutters Grove Ave and Cutters Lane. Drive down the windy road to the parking lot near the playground. From there, go straight through the trees to the waterfront.

3. Donie Galloway Park (Mississippi River) Champlin, MN

There are several great water access points along the trail at Donie Galloway Park. It's a short, flat walk to the water from the parking lot. Google Maps calls it North River Park, but the sign at the entrance reads as above. You can read a handy trail guide here with more details on the park!

Have you visited any of these waterways before? Let me know in the comments below! Hope you and your pup (or maybe just your pup!) can enjoy a good splash before it gets too cold. Otherwise, bookmark these for next summer when the sun comes back!
