I am super excited to get away from it all this weekend and hide away in this incredibly tiny house! River, my 8-month-old Border Collie pup, and I will have a girl's weekend in the Wisconsin Dells area and enjoy the great outdoors.
This tiny house on wheels is off-grid and sits on 22 acres of wilderness and trails. We will certainly be doing hiking on site and traveling to some great parks nearby. I am a tiny house lover, and while I've been able to tour a few, this will be my very first time staying in one. I'm currently saving up to purchase/build my own, but I've got at least another year to go. This will be a great opportunity to try a tiny on for size (pun totally intended).
How big is it?
I'll inquire with the owner and get back to you. My guess is between 100 - 200 square feet considering it is a TOW (tiny house on wheels).
Where's the toilet?
They have a really neat bath house on site, but sadly it is only operational in the non-freezing months. If you're thinking of visiting in spring/summer/fall, it has flush toilets and showers. This winter, though, I'll have a chemical or compost toilet inside the tiny house. I'll let you know how that goes in the next article...
Where do you sleep?
There is a loft! I'm so excited to climb in and cozy up.
What do you need to bring?
I'll need to bring my own water since water supply to the tiny is turned off in the winter. Food, dog stuff, towels for a potentially wet/muddy dog, and books!
What about River? What will it be like for her?
She will love it. I'll be bringing some bully sticks to keep her occupied in case of bad weather, but we'll be doing a lot of hiking. She will love taking naps in the loft after a full day of exploring. Yes, she'll sleep in the loft with me. Don't worry; I'll make sure she doesn't fall off!
What questions do you have about the preparation phase?
